Sometimes the best news deserves the best dinner. 
In March 2019, Texas sportswriter Matt Galatzan received the news every dog owner facing cancer hopes to hear:
His dog, Scar, had been declared cancer free.
So Matt decided his best friend deserved a proper celebration.
He bought Scar a steak and took the time to reverse sear it – slowly cooking it first before finishing it at high heat to give it the perfect crust.
Matt shared a photo of the steak with the simple explanation that Scar had beaten cancer that day, calling him TheRealMVP.
And yes, when people inevitably asked, Matt confirmed that Scar thoroughly enjoyed his victory dinner.
The photo has continued resurfacing online for years, even after Scar sadly passed away.
But perhaps that’s why people still love it.
It’s a little snapshot of one very good day between a man and his best friend – and a reminder that when you get the chance to celebrate the ones you love, make them the steak.
